Take Action
This site does not tell you what to think. We believe an informed public should make that decision. Here are ways to make your voice heard — whether you support or oppose Flock in Roanoke.
If You Want to Voice Concerns
- Contact City Council directly: find Council Members' contact information at roanokeva.gov/989/City-Council, or by calling the City Clerk's Office at (540) 853-2541. (Roanoke)
- Speak at a City Council meeting: Roanoke City Council meets twice a month — on the first Monday at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., and on the third Monday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. All meetings are held in the City Council Chamber, Room 450, at the Noel C. Taylor Municipal Building, 215 Church Avenue SW. Speakers are allotted three minutes each. (Roanoke)
- Contact the ACLU of Virginia: active on this issue locally — acluva.org.
- Review the city's own data: Roanoke maintains a public License Plate Reader Transparency Portal at roanokeva.gov/2927/License-Plate-Reader-Transparency-Portal.
If You Support the Technology
- Contact City Council to express support for continued or expanded use (same contact info as above).
- Review RPD's FAQ on how the technology is used: roanokeva.gov/3167/Flock-Safety-Technology-FAQ.
- Submit a public comment to RPD's Public Information Office praising the program's transparency and results.
